Nokia has released Nokia C6-00

Posted by Peter on November 15th, 2010

The Nokia C6-00 comes with a 5-megapixel camera, a 3.2-inch touchscreen and a QWERTY keypad. Confusingly, there are two Nokia C6 phones released this year. This one is the Nokia C6-00 (to give it its full title) and it comes with a 5-megapixel camera, a slide out QWERTY keypad and a 3.2-inch touchscreen.

The C6-00 runs on Symbian S60 (5th edition) anyone who has used a Nokia N97 or a 5800 XpressMusic before will be familiar with the menu layouts. Though no resistive touchscreen will ever be as good as a capacitive one, we generally got on alright with the Nokia C6-00′s screen. There were a couple of times when we had to press it twice or harder than normal to get certain actions to confirm but on the whole we found it easy to use. Easier than most phones with resistive screens anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung Wave II Announced

Posted by Peter on October 11th, 2010

Samsung has announced yet another Wave family handset albeit with a super-clear LCD screen. Though we already know about Wave 2 S525, this new Wave II S8530 is the true successor of the original 3.3-inch Super AMOLED display bearing Wave S8500. The Wave II sports a 3.7-inch Super-clear LCD display which is the same as the one announced for HTC Desire and Nexus One handsets in July.

The new Wave II’s 3.7-inch screen supports up to 800×480 pixel resolution. In terms of hardware, the Wave II still sports 1GHz processor with support for HSDPA and has 2GB internal memory.

Samsung has added Trace, a new input method for T9 input. It is similar to SWYPE input method and could possibly be the bada version of SWYPE. The Wave II runs bada OS. For digital imaging, Wave II comes with a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash and supports HD recording of videos.

Other features of the Wave II include Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a microSD memory stick. Packing the same 1500mAh battery, Samsung will offer this handset in Europe by November at affordable rate that is a bit costly than the existing Wave S8500.

Samsung Fascinate Crashes Verizon’s Droid Party

Posted by Peter on September 8th, 2010

The Samsung Fascinate will start selling for $199 this week, is the underdog in an Android lineup dominated by HTC and Motorola. On Verizon, those makers who have Droid phones steal the show, got benefited from aggressive marketing and popular branding. In terms of features it has a midway point between HTC’s Droid Incredible and Motorola’s Droid X. That’s mostly because of the 4-inch screen, compared to 3.7 inches on the Incredible and 4.3 inches on the Droid X. The Fascinate also has 2 GB internal storage and 16 GB on MicroSD, which is more than the Droid Incredible’s 8GB/2GB combination and less than the Droid X’s 8GB/16GB. The Fascinates 1500 mAh battery, compare in real-world terms should be better than the Incredible and either on par with or slightly less efficient than the excellent Droid X.
